A beautifully, documented Kansas City wedding at the beginning of summer!
As a Kansas City wedding photographer, I had the honor on documenting this beautiful couple’s wedding this past weekend.
Referred to by themselves and others as the “old married couple”, Shannon + Alec met at a cute, lil backyard party. After a quick, one worded introduction, it didn’t take Alec long to ask Shannon for her number which later led to a summer full of memories and adventures.
Our beautiful friendship started back when Shannon + Alec booked me as their engagement and wedding photographer. Their engagement session was in the middle of winter, but thankfully right before the harsh cold set it. It was an amazing time, until their dog Bear got loose. As my assistant (aka my husband) was chasing Bear around trying to catch him, the couple and I bounced around the forest and the prairie for some epic engagement photos. In the end, we managed to get Bear back on his leash, and ended up having beautiful images during the winter golden/blue hour! (featured in a different blog)
With my documentary style wedding photography, I was able to capture all the main and in between moments for these two beautiful souls on their wedding day.
Their wedding at at a modern barn venue called The Ridge Wedding and Event venue in Richmond, Missouri. This is a beautiful, white barn exterior with a modern, yet rustic, chic interior. The Ridge is nestled in the middle of the Missouri country side, on top of a hill, on a large plot of land. You have the option to have an indoor or outdoor ceremony + cocktail hour, plus an air conditioned interior for reception (and cocktail hour if you so prefer!) The bridal and groom suites are HUGE and well lit! Which is great for bridal portraits!! My favorite part is the large plot of land down by the forest. You are really play around there with the landscape for photos, catch a great sunset, plus also escape from the crowd for a bit with your photographer.
From a photographer’s eye, there were so many unique places for photos that made me very excited to explore! From a couple’s perspective, this venue is perfect for those who want a more customizable, unique wedding day that is tailored to them and their love.
There were so many happy, tearful moments.
A butterfly hung around the full ceremony landing on all the family members present, including the bride and groom. We liked to say it was the bride’s mom coming to say hello 🙂
The day was sunny, warm and the evening became beautiful + golden atmosphere.
Their dog, Bear, made an appearance! He is the cutest thing ever with lots of energy.
Their love radiated throughout the full day.
Congrats once again to the Shannon and Alec Chavez!🤍 It was an honor to capture you wedding and wishing y’all nothing but endless happiness.
